Lonny love!

I find like attracts like, so if you read my blog or most interior design and/or fashion magazines, then you most likely read Lonny Magazine  and have probably already poured over this drool worthy space. I highly admire both Michelle Adam's style and drive! Now there's an example of a  girl who seems to have it all together! This month's issue of Lonny was great, I always look forward to their latest issue and try to read it the day it arrives onto my lap top!  I loved Michelle's bedroom and the canopy bed that she carefully created and featured. Something I too would love to do but I'm not sure when I'd have time to do it. I'm also not sure that my five year old son wouldn't try to swing from the hanging drapes. Is it me or do young boys have more energy then they can ever possibly expend? :) I also adore the sharp and stylish black. grey and white combo used. She beautifully mixed an array of textures and patterns. Thanks for sharing another perfect d...

I'm drawn to designs and fashion with an identity. Spaces that leave an impression resonate with me. I like to take risks and though I am pretty much a new englander on many levels, a part of me definitely belongs in L.A. ! With that said, I love the work of  L.A. designer Wendy Schwartz , it's edgy but livable. I really can't wait to move, I'll use my place as a laboratory of sorts....I'll be sure to try a few over the top but tasteful ideas..They usually photograph beautifully. Happy Wednesday.

I miss ACK !

HERE IS WHY:  The sheer beauty and history All the vintage truck and cars jeep top down freedom The quaintness The brick and cobblestones The amazing interiors!! I try to visit as often as I can, which really isn't enough! I've only missed one summer visit over the past 20 years! I'm hoping to spend at least one month out of the summer there someday! A girl can dream right?? Always! Never stop dreaming!

I know you've seen it...but I LOVE it..

I know these two spaces are all over blog world today...but Betsy Burnham's design sense is so up my alley, her attention to detail is crazy-good! _ {and on a side-note..I've been reading Albert Hadley - The Story of America's Preeminent Interior Designer . It's a very entertaining read..i guess for the design obsessed like myself} I love so many of his textile and wallcovering prints; especially his "fireworks" line above, I would love to use this on a project soon... Calm + Collected

I love using color and pattern in my work, but I also find the use of subtle color and texture very appealing. The color use, balance of modern and more traditional elements and the art collection infuse this space with a wonderful sculptural quality! These images leave me wanting to see more of this house! { Melisssa Warner's home, of Massucco , Warner, Miller in this month's H.B .} I find most of my readers are pretty design savvy, so you may have seen these photos in your own publications..but I find I can continually absorb the same amazing rooms again and again! Here are some photos of recent favorites! I'm drawn and often design classically modern spaces, rooms that draw inspiration from the past but incorporate a blend of updated older pieces with a unexpected modern twist speak to me and inform my own work. Lonny Magazine is a breath of fresh air..hopefully they'll come out with a paper version at some point. They are taking contributions on their site , I'm going to donate to this worth while read! A big thank you to Michelle and Patrick and all the contributors for continually wowing us with your amazing publication! I'm loving..

Rich neutral spaces that layer texture, color, antique rugs and an array of interesting objects and furniture pieces . Designer Kara Mann's work exhibits this style beautifully. Antique rugs are a beautiful impetus for a design concept. This Lake Forest showroom room above is just about perfect, now I've got to find out where she found or commissioned that amazing ceiling fixture from! {update Lyndsey from Kara Mann's office emailed me today - the gorgeous chandelier is called the Lumiere by Jean de Merry - Kara Mann carries the line in her showroom if you have the itch and the funds to buy something dramatic.} I would love to design a room using the color palette found in this antique rug I love the mix of furniture in this space. It's earthy but chic. The antique rug adds the depth this room needed! image: Kara Mann
