I HEART

I've long been an admirer of Milo Baughman's sculptural metal and wood furniture. He's  most notably known for his chairs, desks and credenzas. I'm still kicking myself on being out bid on a pair of chairs on ebay about ten years ago. I think they were $200 for the pair. Clearly, now that would NEVER happen! They easily sell for $2,000 plus a pair. Here's a little back ground on the iconic mid century designer. You can purchase his designs through Thayer Coggin.   Milo Baughman (1923-2003), was a pioneer in modern design and one of the leading modern furniture designers of the second half of the 20th century. Baughman was brought east from his native California by Thayer Coggin in the 1950s to design the first lines for his collection of related upholstered groups. Baughman's uniquely American designs were forward-thinking and distinctive, yet unpretentious. The relaxed and timeless quality of his furniture created a ready and consistent response and his highly ...

LOVING:

NAVY MILLWORK   This shade is perfect! via Betsy Burnham. and if you're not up for painting the millwork navy, paint the shelves behind your millwork navy!

That color...

It's not quite aqua not quite green but lies somewhere beautifully in-between. I'm loving this greenish-aqua hue lately.(it's almost teal but not quite) It's Springy and uplifting and looks amazing paired with navy, pink, blue and grey. Benjamin Moore's shade Island Paradise - 606 is a pretty close match. You could ask the paint store to mix it at 125%, if you'd like it to look a little deeper. It is painting season!! I have a slew of projects to complete. top images: Amie Corley, bottom right: Atlantic-Pacific blog

INSPIRED!

I'm always inspired by the world around me. I'd have to say most of my inspiration lately is right at my finger tips. With the advent of Pinterest, numerous search engines and a zillion design blogs, I don't have to look far for inspiration. Of course getting in touch with nature and exploring + traveling are always a must too. I need to step out of my design world and away from the computer to recharge sometimes! This week I'm inspired by everything 60's and 70's glam . I'm loving the work of Italian socialite and artist, designer and business woman Gabriella Crespi lately. Her sculptural, designs are a marvel and are crafted out an array of materials such as metal, shells, wood, and bamboo. She drew inspiration from "the universe". Crespi is a very spiritual woman and was born in 1922. kicking myself + more jade

I confess, I'm a bit of a trash picker (I'm mean this of course in the most positive way possible). I often snatch up great pieces of furniture  on the side of the road on trash day, my 4 year old son gets a kick out of this. (most likely a future trash picker, poor guy)  Last night I passed this black table (it was almost identical  but needed some love). I even did a drive by a second time but my daughter was with me, so there was no way it was going to fit in the back of my new SUV. ( a much needed purchase in my life). So today what do I stumble across on M Design Studio's website? This table! And more jade of course too. I'm bummed, oh well. I have a back log of pieces to transform so I guess I don't need another one! There's just something so thrilling about finding an amazing piece of furniture or a mirror etc. etc. left curbside! Who's with me here?? I know a number of my design friends are, promise your secret is safe with me. ;)

J. Crew is undeniably on fire lately! I am continually inspired by well "everything" but today it was by the adorable video on their site ! {i need to download that french song}. I bought this shirt a few weeks ago..and love how they mix it up.{imagine having those legs-you could wear anything} I can't get enough of stripes lately {i'm sure this will pass}. I often use fashion as a starting point for my design projects, you could build a room on these three images alone! {see below for some ideas} love the bend wood chair in a weathered version. {i have one that I need to revamp, still toying with some ideas - but this looks cool} Also like what "Ascot Friday" did with her stripes..the tan, black look is working for me! this is sort of how my brain functions and where the inspiration begins to take me design wise! { i work this way for all my clients - now you know why i LOVE my job!} this rug is a steal right now here ! {throw in some crisp white dra...
