Thoughts on home - Thanksgiving table update

Hello Loves! Today I'm sharing an update on my Thanksgiving preparations. I've got almost everything in order for the table. I'm purchasing the flowers tomorrow! Mind you this is a table on a "budget", so I'm going to mix a couple different types and bouquets to get a custom look. Here I have shared some common Fall/Thanksgiving bouquets for inspiration......  I am however going to mix my colors up a bit. I was out scouting over the weekend and think I am going to combine the two floral looks below. The orange roses will be deeper and richer in color.  My kids and I also gilded pumpkins yesterday. They loved it and I was really happy with the results! The smaller pumpkins are going to be used as place setting markers and I may guild the stems today.  I am using these dishes on top of my china. They are from a family collection and are Spode, pattern: Florence. I'm loving the fretwork pattern and brown color!! Finally I had a couple of people ask for the st...

Thanksgiving recipes!

So I have pulled together my Thanksgiving Day recipes! I mentioned last week I'll be sharing a weekly post up until the holiday. I've included all of the saved recipes and my thoughts. I have also pinned them here - under my recipes board. I loved this table setting guide breakdown. I'll be going with a basic table setting but adding a water glass too. Enjoy! I'm going to try and brine my turkey this year. Recipe here . I am a classic stuffing girl. I actually use a recipe out of my Mother's 1970's copy of Better Homes and Garden's cookbook. It's yummy. I add extra butter. I LOVE sweet potatoes. I thought these sounded like a twist on the traditional holiday veggie . Again, I keep my squash pretty classic with lots of butter and a little brown sugar. My Mom bakes the best rolls ever. I should probably learn the recipe. She also always bakes sticky buns. These look similar to her rolls , they are a blend of sweet and salty. Delish!  I've never add...

bar continued...

Here's a different detail shot of Amanda's bar set up, in what appears to be another home. I love how she places vintage pitchers in pulled out drawers and distinctive objects to give her home character and charm. I found this shot in an article by Rita Konig in Inside Out magazine.

The black and white of it....

I will forever be drawn to this sharp color palette of contrasts! It's wonderfully perfect when thrown off with another color like camel, blue, green, pink, gold..etc. etc. On a side note: I am DYING to go to Europe soon!! I'm so inspired by their street fashion and how amazing pinterest has been at bringing the images to my home/laptop

Mermaid of Honor

I'm thrilled to share this post today of a beautifully hosted and designed bridal shower by my dear friend Sarah. Sarah is not only one of the funnest people I know she's unbelievably talented at what she does. Her company Lil Hoot is well on its way since launching last year. Sarah's taste and attention to detail is amazing, she truly pours her heart into every event she plans! Congrats Ms. Sarah and Ashly (the bride to be). Everything looked gorgeous! These photographs wonderfully capture your day. (read on, below Sarah outlines the shower and details) "my cousin, ashly, is my favorite person on the planet.  When she got engaged to her awesome fiancee Scott, I was beyond happy and since I am a party planner, I had already started planning the wedding and shower in my head months prior {obvs}.   I knew I wanted to enlist the help of industry faves, White Loft Studio, Chocolate Creative Design and Petal Floral Design {who are also Ashly's wedding vendors}. I want...

Al fresco with friends

I love this time of year. The weather is finally warming up in Boston. It doesn't get be much then dining outside with amazing friends, wine and good food. My friend is coming over Thursday night with her kiddies, our children will run around the yard while we sip wine. I've decided that I'm going to make Avocado and grilled corn salad. It's delicious. I'll most likely serve it with a side salad, with some grilled chicken and a crusty french bread. Dessert is going to be ice cream sandwiches. If you're pinched for time and can't make the homemade version just purchase cookies from your local bakery and fill them with your favorite ice cream or sorbet. (I think that's what I'll be doing on Thursday) I love the concept of this image,  delicious food displayed for all to enjoy. There's something very romantic about dining under the stars Avocado and Grilled Corn Salad with Cilantro Vinaigrette 5 Ears Corn, husk removed, brush with olive oil and gril...
