Patch NYC for Target

Last night my assistant and I attended the preview party for Patch NYC's collection for Target. Their fabulous shop is tucked away in The Courtyard on 46 Waltham Street in Boston. The designer-artist duo Don Carney and John Ross discussed their latest design collaboration with Target, which is arriving in stores on September 9th. Their style feels like a vintage meets modern mix that is both rustic and fresh.  The designers draw much of their inspiration from found objects found at the NYC flea markets. The approach The discussion A peek at the collection As you know I have a thing for foxes, they're sort of my good luck charm so when I saw this guy I need I'd have to have him! The Patch NYC Boston shop is filled with interesting finds, and art which include their collection of jewelry, art and textiles. They also carry Waylande Gregory Ceramics, I adore his work and this relaunched line. And their studio space! A vintage find.. I'll absolutely be heading back to their

kiddie quarters

Hello, hello. I hope you're having a great week. The weather has been amazing in Boston, as the summer slowly creeps by I need to re-group and refocus on the "home search". I'm moving this October. eek, it's quickly approaching. It's sort of a bitter sweet move for me. I have many fond memories in this home and so many great friends in this area but I'm ready to move on and start fresh someplace new! (and of course I'll keep all of my friends) Sadly, my life sort of imploded when my daughter was only 9 months old so I never got to truly finish her room. It's about half way there, so I'm really looking forward to finding the perfect little home for all of us. I'm not there quite yet (and luckily have a wonderful place to stay while I look) but I do know that I'm pinning away and am full of design ideas, and color inspiration so hopefully I'll get to put those to use soon enough! Right now I'm drawn to green and yellow..or better

Plum Yum..

It's funny how quickly purple comes and goes, but I'm loving this color moment for Fall and Winter of 2012-2013! Buying a small item like a scarf or a throw is a great way to mix this hot shade into your home/closet!

Creature Universe (aka ANPO) Starters: Okay so every creature game should start with the trainers getting their first creature. In pokemon you started in one town and you picked from three different starters. In most games in the series you could pick from a grass, fire or water pokemon. My first thoughts in designing ANPO were "okay why not have different types available? Why not hav

On My Radar

I love the concept of layering pattern and texture in design right now! Remember don't be afraid to take risks and be sure to vary the scale and direction of the patterns to keep the look from getting chaotic!

Sneak Peek - Project

Here's a little sneak peek of a project I'm designing in Boston. This client has been a complete pleasure to work with, she and her husband take risks and have fabulous taste! What's better then that? The cube and chair pictured were custom designs by me and are going to be added to The Shelter furniture collection this Fall! I was thrilled at how they turned out. I'll of course post the final photos of this wonderful home once it's completed!

Lonny love!

I find like attracts like, so if you read my blog or most interior design and/or fashion magazines, then you most likely read Lonny Magazine  and have probably already poured over this drool worthy space. I highly admire both Michelle Adam's style and drive! Now there's an example of a  girl who seems to have it all together! This month's issue of Lonny was great, I always look forward to their latest issue and try to read it the day it arrives onto my lap top!  I loved Michelle's bedroom and the canopy bed that she carefully created and featured. Something I too would love to do but I'm not sure when I'd have time to do it. I'm also not sure that my five year old son wouldn't try to swing from the hanging drapes. Is it me or do young boys have more energy then they can ever possibly expend? :) I also adore the sharp and stylish black. grey and white combo used. She beautifully mixed an array of textures and patterns. Thanks for sharing another perfect d

Shelter loves...

Here's what I'm loving and pinning this week!!  1. Still on a diagonal line kick, especially in black and white. This is an image of Hotel Cecilia in Austin . 2. The    Hermes wallpaper line is both exotic and fun! 3. Loose, blond braids and creamy white, warm tops and vests for Fall. 4. Tory Burch's Fox motif for Fall. I have a penchant for all things fox related. It's for number of reasons but you can bet that I'll own those great earrings very soon.

Jingle, jingle and the winners are!

AND 44 but I can't find the snapshot for some reason!! Congratulations, I'll be contacting you very soon to obtain all of your information!!

Not Ready,

I'm definitely not ready to say good bye to the summer yet. I'd love to sneak in another beach day or two! I've been working on my bucket list and both goals big and small lately. There's something so uplifting about crossing an item off that list. The act itself is usually the impetus for the next item in the mix. Don't you think? If you read my blog with any regularity you've probably figured out that I love the beach..I'm still searching for my cottage and continue to gather and pin away all my ideas for my new home. Those of you who frequent my blog have most likely already gathered that I also have an appreciation for most things "Southern Californian" (I could do without the traffic and fires of course) but that laid back, open minded, and somewhat easy chic vibe def. speaks to me on a number of levels. Although this home is a bit masculine (two men live there) I still love it. It's the seaside apartment of the crazy talented Eric Hughes

Lattice!

I just returned from a whirlwind business trip to Chicago. (plus I have a bit of exciting news I'd like to share but more on that Monday) That's such a great city! It actually allowed me a couple of hours to actually sit and read a magazine! September's issue of House Beautiful looks great and so does this house by designer Ashley Whittaker. Her application of lattice on this sun porch is both creative and three dimensional. There's something welcoming, fresh and a bit old fashioned about this classic pattern. And in it's obvious state: on outdoor porches   I love the application on cabinet or closet doors! This is more of a fret work design but you get the concept. Or for less dimension try paint or wallpaper! Ever since seeing this shot in Lonny years ago, I've loved the idea of these oversized sconces in a bathroom. I want to attempt to paint a lattice wall soon!
