Sitting Pretty..

Atlanta is such a hot "design" spot right now! I'm continually wowed by the design talent in this southern city. I'm a big fan of Melanie Turner's work, and this room for the Atlanta Designer Show-house is another example of Turner-Davis Design's detail design approach. This sitting room's subtle mix of soft color and modern glamour is working for me..for more on this room and the entire showhouse visit Atlanta Homes Magazine .. and for more on Ms. Turner see her site here .

On my radar..for the Fall..

For Fashion? I love, love, love layering my outfits with blazers! I live in them most of the year. This knit blazer from Madewell would be an instant staple for me. another staple? Sweedish Hasbeen boot At Home. warm neutrals, tufted velvet, leopard prints + mixing natural wood and paint! image: Paul Costello image: Canadian House and Home. a mirror in the kitchen? would you do it? love the look but is it practical? love this leather butterfly chair from Urban Outfitters and the warm unexpected colors of these Ikat rugs! Available at ABC Carpet and Home In the Kitchen I tend to cook more in the Fall then summer. Onion soup is a no-fail classic! See recipe here .

LEOPARD for Fall.. all you need is a touch of this print, a little goes a long way! I also opt for faux, I have trouble wearing/using anything that once roamed the earth! {but to each her/his own} Images: J.Crew, via High-Heeled foot inthe door , via Vanessa and Valentine , Markham Roberts , via dustjacket attic

Seriously, break out the china

{I have long loved this image and Kelly Wearstler's china patterns for Pickard (below) - am very into these colors right now!} My husband and I celebrated our seventh wedding anniversary last night {not sure where the time goes}, we relaxed at home over dinner, wine and dessert with our three year old son. {Emerson our 7 month old daughter was sleeping - this is a rare occasion really}. After reading Amy Dragoo's quote via La Dolce Vita yesterday, I decided I had to break out our china! Here's Amy's motto: Life is too short, eat off the good china! I couldn't agree more Amy. It's the simple details, that make the difference! So tonight, I encourage you to "eat off the good china". It was really nice, I think I'll do it more often...

What's in Store??

for Elle Decor, it's no surprise that Margaret Russell went out in style..in case you've stepped away from design media this summer {Margaret is leaving Elle Decor } September was her last issue as Editor in Chief {she's moving on to Architectural Digest - let's hope she gives that magazine a much needed revamp}. Michael Boodro is set to takeover as Editor in Chief this Wednesday! Okay, back to the goodies...the latest issue of Elle Decor is the thickest magazine I've received in a long time! It's filled with photo after photo of gorgeous, chic, modern + classic homes. There's really a taste of something for everyone. now a peek inside I love the interior of this modern, glass home by designer Jesse Carrier and architect Robert Dean. {original architect in the early 60's was James Evans}. It's such a stylish, but livable space for a young family...also loving the "trend" back to light, natural woods...mixed with lacquered pieces. Photogr
