Artist- One I love

Artist - Katie Upton. About ten years ago my "now" husband and I spent the weekend in picturesque Woodstock, VT. I discovered Katie Upton's work in one of the few downtown art galleries. I've been a fan ever since. I wish I had purchased a large scale piece back then, because her pieces have since increased quite a bit in price. Have a great weekend!!!

Design Tip + Trick - Inspirational Images

In lieu of a traditional upholstered headboard, why not try something different. Maybe a tapestry, panels, a large mirror, a found object, a barn-door ....there are endless possibilities and some can be executed on a dime!! Here are some ideas..... An 18 th century tapestry. Image: Elle Decor Here they used a mirror, the fun house mirror from Troy to be exact. Quite glamorous ! Image: Elle Decor If you own an upholstered bed and want to add some depth to the space, try covering the wall behind the bed in an A sian themed wall-covering . Pictured here is a custom bed with a de Gournay hand-painted silk paper. Image: I can't recall where I found this, may have been a Boston area magazine. Vertically oriented panels covered in a faux leather, can make a small space appear larger. This is a great bed to read in. Faux leather is cost effective and can easily be wiped clean.. August - Recommended Reading + Art Exhibit

This Fall on September 18 th , Galerie de Bayserin, located in Paris, France will open an art exhibit titled Architectural Abecedario . This magnificent exhibit will feature architecturally inspired artists Andrew Zega and Bernd H Dam's watercolor series using the alphabet. Each letter is beautifully transformed using an architecture or garden theme. A silk bound book, with a forward by Charlotte Moss will coincide with the exhibit. For those of you lucky enough to live in or travel to Paris, this is one you shouldn't miss. Zega and Dams also created and published a book in 2005 titled Chinoiseries . This title contains fifty exact replications of Western Pagodas and Chinoiserie gardens. Luckily for us, this edition has been reproduced and is available at Amazon. I may buy two copies, one to cut and frame and the other for my library. For an original copy and more information see: architecturalwatercolors .com *all images featured, courtesy of www.architecturalwaterc
